Intake & Admissions

Meet with a professional and receive a care plan.

Rapid Access

Rapid Access is our same-day admissions process available to all City of Richmond residents seeking mental health and/or substance use treatment services through the RBHA. Rapid Access is how you start services at RBHA and are assigned to your ongoing service provider. Depending on your needs, you may also see a prescriber as part of this process.

RBHA provides ongoing mental health and substance use treatment services for Medicaid and under-insured Individuals.

If you are not sure if RBHA is the right service provider for your needs or if you would like more information about services, you may choose to complete a phone screening first. You may call 804-241-9621 to start that process.

Rapid Access Hours

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 2 pm.

Location

Rapid Access services are available at the main RBHA office located at 107 S. 5th Street, Richmond, VA 23219. There is metered street parking available in front of the building.

Check In & Registration

When you arrive, you will meet initially with an Engagement Specialist who will gather your registration information and assist you with a financial screening.

Assessment Services

You will then meet with a licensed clinician who will gather information. The clinician will ask questions about your history, current symptoms, and preferences and will ask you to complete some screenings. All of this information will help us determine what treatment service(s) will be most helpful for you.

The core service provided at the RBHA is case management. Your case manager is available to discuss your ongoing treatment needs, goals for services, and assist with any other issues you may have. RBHA provides a wide array of services with case management that may be offered to you. Examples of services recommended could include:

  • Psychiatric Services and Medication Management
  • School Based Services

What Happens Next?

Once you have discussed the treatment recommendations with the assessment clinician, you will be provided with written information about these recommendations and next steps. If you are recommended for services provided at the RBHA, you will be provided with the contact information for your assigned case manager and next treatment appointment(s). If you are not recommended for services provided at the RBHA, you will be provided the reason for this decision and appropriate community referrals.
