Detention Center Mental Health Services are offered to juveniles while they are being held in Richmond’s Juvenile Detention Center.

Should a juvenile show risk for mental health issues while in detention, services are made available to that youth. Individual and Group Counseling are provided by a Mental Health Clinician.  The juvenile will be linked to services in the community upon their discharge by the Mental Health Case Manager.  Juveniles in need of psychotropic medication will be evaluated by a psychiatrist while in detention.  Juveniles will be monitored for safety and appropriate precautions will be taken in the event of a psychiatric emergency.
