RBHA is the recipient of a major, 4-year $1.6 million federal grant aimed at integrating primary and behavioral healthcare services.
The Richmond Integrated Community Health (RICH) Recovery Initiative is expanding and enhancing RBHA’s on-site primary medical care clinic, and improving the overall wellness of our consumers.
There is a wealth of research showing that persons with serious mental illness and chronic substance use disorders die, on average, 25 years earlier than the general population, and are hospitalized at higher rates than the general population. RBHA’s RICH Recovery Initiative aims to address these disparities and improve the lives of the nearly 5% of the Richmond population that we already serve.
What will this new initiative mean for RBHA consumers? RICH Recovery is designed to improve overall health, decrease emergency room utilization, decrease hospitalizations, and improve the early recognition of potentially dangerous symptoms by providing on-site primary medical care at RBHA. Our consumers will have access to primary health screenings upon intake and integrated care services addressing their physical and behavioral health needs… all under one roof! We will be equipped to help our consumers manage common health issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking addiction, weight management, and proactive wellness services.
As we continue to move forward into a new era of health and wellness for our RBHA consumers, we are ready to talk to them about getting RICH!
